June 02, 2025 – First of the month!

It’s the first of the month, so that means there are new bottles to fill. I’m still ramping up and have no idea how much to produce at a time (other than One Litre At A Time), so I’ve chosen the following this month:

  • Skol Vodka – 1 Litre
  • Evan Williams Bourbon – 1 Litre
  • Paul Masson Brandy – 750 ml
  • Castillo Silver Rum – 750 ml

The litres took just over 4 ounces of Grade B Vanilla Pods, and the 750s took about 3 1/2 ounces each.

On a different front, we made cinnamon rolls for tonight’s family get-together. This is a recipe from Dimitra’s Dishes, and I cannot recommend it enough. In fact, it has inspired me to add a “Recipes” menu item. The recipe is in two parts, the Basic Brioche Dough which forms the base of the rolls, and the Cinnamon Rolls themselves. Be sure to watch the video, because she adds heavy cream to the rolls after they have risen but before they are baked. This is not in the written recipe, and it really makes them “decadent”.

It is possible to do this entire process in one day, but I always make the dough the day before, leave it in the fridge overnight, and finish up early the next morning. These had to be out the door at 8, so I got up at 5 and started the cinnamon roll recipe with the brioche I made the day before.

Of course, I used the Vanilla Extract that finally turned three months old today. So far (and this is not a scientific test in any way), the portion of the rolls flavored with Vanilla Extract based on Bacardi Rum seem to be favored.
